The last 15 years or so I have cared for it and kept it clean, with fresh strings and I have played it regularly. This was glued in the mid 80's with some "super resin" and is still holding together. The neck plate is clearly stamped made in Japan, with the serial number, which places this guitar's production year in 1980, at least according to the bit of info I found regarding interpretation of the Matsumoku serial numbers.It has "been there, done that" and lived a hard life in my teens, with a broken neck as a result. Seems like a lot of information on certain models may be permanantley lost to History.Look at the first number of your serial number if one exists. Serial numbers will be found on a plate bolted to the back of the guitar's neck on electric models or inside the body of an acoustic model. The company, sited in the city of Nagoya, produces electric, acoustic and classical.If you cannot locate a serial number, chances are your guitar was manufactured before the mid-1970s. Aria Guitar S How To Read TheI have looked on the ARIA site with no luck how to read the serial number. I think it is probably a basic model even though it has binding used. The owner thought it was probably 20 years old but was not sure. But I have to admit that this might not be the case when I tried to decode the serial # (068117) - Is it a '78 (third digit "8") manufactured in June ( first two digits "06 ") or is it manufactured in 1980 (first digit "0")? If it's an '80 I have to rethink parts of my youthI acquired an ARIA acoustic guitar today. Do I have to rethink my youth?PS: In the refurbishing process I swapped the DiMarzios I equipped with in the mid eighties (the only right thing to do back then) with a pair og Whiskerbuckers from CreamT (BFG Miss Pearly Gates spec pups) and it sounds fantastic. Locating and dissecting the serial number is a great first step in identifying the manufacture date of an Aria guitar. A serial number beginning with 8910 likely means the 10th week of 1989.![]()
